Sips and Tips – discover the subtleties of tea with David Thompson

Here at The Farm Shed, we take all our beverages seriously, belIeving there is so much to be enjoyed from a nuanced appreciation and understanding of the origin and production of wine, coffee, beer, cider and tea.

We are therefore very excited to announce that our first Farm Shed event will be a guided tasting with Australia’s leading authority on tea, and the supplier of our Farm Shed selection, David Thompson, on Saturday 25 February between 4-6pm.

If a wisp of mist and a few meters of elevation can profoundly alter the taste of tea, how much difference does and extra minute’s brewing make? Or an extra half-teaspoon of leaf in the pot?

We take our tea seriously at The Farm Shed too, serving Larsen and Thompson teas, with a precision timer so you can brew it to your exact preference.

As a tea-drinking country, we still have a lot to learn about our ‘national drink’.

As deeply complex as fine wine, the nuances of tea are appreciated by only a handful of experts worldwide. And this is your chance to hear from one of them.

David Thompson, of Larsen &Thompson Teas, is Australia’s most experienced tea buyer, taster and importer. An archaeologist in a previous life, David pioneered the import of Indian single estate teas into Australia, and forsees a time when Australians will chooose their tea with the same discdernment with which they choose their wines.

At The Farm Shed we offer a range of single-origin teas from Larsen and Thompson - and offer tasting notes to assist your selection.
