Vineyard of the Month – Freycinet

Freycinet is our Vineyard of the Month for August

Our Vineyard of the Month for August is Freycinet, which lives by its motto of Absolute dedication, no compromise. Geoff and Susan Bull cleared the site in 1978 and planted the first vines in 1979 making Freycinet Vineyard the first ‘commercial’ winery in the region.

Tasmanian born Claudio Radenti, like many Italians, from an early age helped his father make wine for the family. Lindy Bull similarly helped her mother and father and in 1989 became the first Tasmanian female to graduate as a winemaker. Each studied, graduated, travelled internationally for vintages and ended up at Goundrey Wines where they met and became life partners returning together to Freycinet Vineyard in 1992.

Claudio and Lindy continue the family tradition of gently handcrafting the wines and since acquiring the Coombend Olive Grove/vineyard in 2013, also produce extra virgin olive oil from Corregiola and Barnea olive varieties with the help of a Rainelli olive processing plant.
