MacLean Bay Wines – two mates pursuing two passions
Ten minutes north of Bicheno, the one hectare MacLean Bay vineyard sits on a sun drenched North-East facing slope overlooking its namesake. Enjoying a unique microclimate, a lengthy growing season with mild evenings ripens grapes slowly for stress-free sugar and taste development. The rich clay based soil is perfect for pinot noir.
Maclean Bay Wines epitomizes the spirit of two mates and their shared passion for wine and Tasmania’s East Coast. The young golfer met the Greenkeeper at Launceston Golf Club where he played after school. Fate later led them to Bicheno where they leased ‘Diamond Island’ vineyard with 2015 their first vintage.
These new boys on the block continue to grow their dream to produce good wine in a sustainable manner that continues to improve the land supporting the vines. Hard yakka and hands on effort by Simon and Scott is what is creating a growing fan club for their Pinot Noir and Rose.
These two mates are taking old vines in a new direction!
